I keep asking myself this as I am feeling a little bit defeated with the JOB I am trying to do. I feel there is a large stigma surrounding network marketing because of certain shitbirds that have saturated the field. For every person that has ever said, "Join my team," or, "Work from your phone a few hours a day and make thousands," you just dissed network marketing. Thanks.
Some of us are working our ass off—all day, everyday. Those of us actually working our network marketing jobs are EDUCATING people about valuable products that can change lives. We are researching, training how to effectively market, and teaching in person, online, and in the line at the coffee shop. We are not staring into our smartphones making post after post about getting rich quick or making empty promises. We are too busy taking care of people that invest in our products and invest in us!
If someone wants to do what we are doing, that's great. We train them for hours; we invest in them like they invest in us. We give them our time and we genuinely want them to succeed for their benefit. It's never about "my team," it's about their goals. If they fail or decide it's not for them, that's ok. We keep going regardless.
Our customers are given as much attention as business partners. We send out random gifts to loyal customers and meet up with customers who have questions. We do this because we love what we do. And believe it or not, we are not always paid for our time and efforts. We are ok with that because true network marketers love what they do.
A painter does not simply paint for money. They paint because they are passionate, and they develop their craft so they can market and share it with the world. The money comes only when you truly share something of value and beauty. If a product is junk no one buys it, but if it truly changes your life you share it with people and they share it with others. So network marketing only works when something is truly valuable!
I personally choose to share Young Living with the world because it's life-changing. I have worked endless hours for free to educate people about health and wellness through chemical-free products. Have I made money? Yes. Have I lost money some months? Yup! Will I ever ask one person to "join my team"? NO. It is not about that for me. For me, network marketing is about doing something I love wholeheartedly, learning the science behind oils, teaching classes that are eye-opening, taking care of my members and helping them on their health and wellness journey as a whole, networking and meeting driven people that do what they love even if no one is listening, and being real with people. Not all of us are out to swindle people and make a quick buck. Some of us just want to make a living loving what we do, and that is OK!
