The Greatest thing about a photo booth - When you don't get it right the first time, you just hop back in and try try again!!!
( people who rent photo booths for weddings hate us....oh well we have fun)
(I will be jumping back and forth between I statements and we statements so English majors get prepared to cringe...triplets have a hard time writing anything from a single person perspective.)
Once upon a time there were 2 womb mates and myself, growing up in a small home with two hardworking, dedicated parents, who would do anything for us! To say we have the 2 best parents in the world is an understatement. They have become not only parents at this age but also our best friends.
Around age 5 my father started to spit out valuable life lessons, sharing words of wisdom to include, “don’t show your ignorance” and “Lead don’t follow”. At 5 years old you think to yourself , “ tone it down pops, i’m just being a little @$$hole for fun, and I like “following” dad, it feels safe, I blend in, and I won’t be that nerd ball kid everyone tries to peg in the face during a neighborhood game of dodge ball”. At that age you also don’t have a clue what your father is really even talking about. But you knew by the tone in his voice these words were important. As we got older we learned why our father repeated these words over and over and over! ...And by older I mean 30 years old.
My father use to have 6 little shit brown eyeballs gawking at him when he’d say “don’t show your ignorance”, and trust me he said that one with an extra serious tone. He meant business. We were completely blind to the meaning back in the Diz-zay, but what he was saying is…
”You’re embarrassing yourself because you have no clue what you’re talking about, or you’re behaviors show complete disregard for others". (In short…quit being a little jerk wad!)
The lesson we learned from this in the long run... Ignorance is not bliss. Educate yourself, learn new things, think before you speak, don’t run your mouth about things you don’t know, and try something before you say “ I don’t like it”. If there is one thing that these 3 womb mates have learned, YOU DON”T KNOW JACK SH!# TILL YOU TRY! I mean Holy hell! We are using “snake oils”, making home made chemical free products, and teaching essential oil wellness classes! If I check back into my days of ignorance I would peg that type of person a tree hugging, bike riding, granola eating-crunchy mom! Ya know, those "earthy" people! Well guess what; I’ve never hugged a tree, I’m the triplet that’s not a mom, I like me a good chemical rock hard hair spray, and I only occasionally eat granola! I love my oils but I wouldn’t call myself an earthy chic by any means. Me and my sisters are a North Country version of the Kardashians if that makes any sense lol! Except our outfit probably came from a thrift store and when you tell us how much you like it, we develop touretts syndrome, trying to spit out the sale price as fast as we can!
LEAD DON’T FOLLOW.
Sounds Cliche doesn’t it?
We all hear this statement all the time. We grew up hearing this at least once a week. Guess what? I still didn’t really understand it until I was 30. At one time my definition of a leader was someone who did things by the book. BY THE BOOK! EEWWW. "the book" is so boring!! That’s not even me! I used to think a leader was someone who probably did things they did not want to do, to get to the place that they are at. Ya know "they made it through". probably someone was standing right along side of them the whole time saying " it'll all be over soon"....a form of torture...sound familiar? A standard example is someone who went to college, picked a field of employment that had a high hiring rate, worked this job for a long time to eventually get a raise, putting in enough time to earn that 4 weeks of annual vacation time, and eventually they would be at this job long enough to be honored that top ranking position. Boom you’re the leader. Top of the company, your staff are your followers. Now please don’t be offended if that’s your path. If you love what you do and you’re on that path because YOU want to be! I know for myself Ive said way too many times before the age of 30, “I cant wait to retire”. Seriously, how depressing is that, I’m basically saying, I can’t wait to be 75 years old, yeup, that's when Ill start living, 75. Maybe I'll have at least one good hip left, and only one eye with blurred vision. Seriously? Why do people do that? This is America! The Land of the Free, Where people have more opportunities than anywhere else in the world, to shoot for the stars!
(yeup its 4th of July tomorrow and I’m getting corny, except I mean all of this!)
So here we are at 30 years old. 30 year old triplet sisters that have always said we wanted to own a business together and somehow just thought we couldn’t make it happen. It’s amazing what happens when you just simply TRY. Now we want to truely LEAD. LEAD by doing the scary Sh*&. People who do the scary Sh*& leave legacy’s! We want to build a business from the ground up, jump in with both feet and figure it out as we go! We want to persevere when times get tough. We want to surround ourselves with people who share our values, have aspirations to live a life of abundance, and commit to a life of freedom. I do not want to lead with the title on my name badge at “work”. The Womb mates want to truly LEAD with our actions, Not Follow. To specify what “Following” means... Just because you are working for someone else does not mean you are “a follower”. When you are a follower, you are following something that you don’t truly believe in. You are just going through the motions and it does not have your full attention, or as my father would say “ you don’t give a rats @$$ about it”. Are you sitting around wishing you were doing something else? Stop wishing, start doing! But please read Jon Acuff's Book "Quitter" first!
Here is what happened when 3 womb mates starting DOING at 30.
We all became real freakin happy!!! Even when things didn’t always go as planned, or we made mistakes, or had times we had no clue what we were doing! There’s a rush and joy about knowing its all on you! To be successful YOU have to figure it out. Its amazing how pursuing your passion boosts your energy levels, keeps you awake until midnight, and gets you up at 6 am to get right back to it.
Another thing happens for us anxious folk. YOUR ANXIETY PLUMMITS. I used to have this heavy/burning feeling in my chest 24.7. I called it anxiety at the time. What I call it now… Boredom. I was so freakin bored! Bored with work, bored with my free time, and I never knew where to put what little energy I had. That heavy burning feeling in my chest has turned to this feeling of excitement, every single day. I wake up ready to conquer the world. Trust me, its not all roses, I’ve hit road bumps and failed at things, but when you’re fighting for your dream...working for what you have always wanted...you will be that leader that never stops trying, learning from their mistakes, and reinventing the wheel.
So what’s my definition of a leader now?
People who make their dreams a reality. Leaders establish their credibility by showing up every single day, regardless of failures or setbacks. Leaders are those people who have BIG BOLD, CRAZY IDEAS. Leaders are not too shy or embarrassed to share their ideas, and they even let others watch them stumble their way down the path to success. There is only one person who can hold you back from reaching your goals. YOU.
So if you decide to embark on a business adventure with your womb mates or besties; maybe you even decide to teach about those “CRAZY SNAKE OILS” , start a jewelry business, and try something you’ve never done, all while sharing that crazy journey for all to judge on social media, be prepared to feel like that nerdy kid that everyone tries to peg in the face during that friendly neighborhood game of dodge-ball. But if there is one thing we all know about those “nerdy-different” kids. They are successful as a mutha!!! Those are the people who you are later jealous of, and in the words of my grandmother, “Jealousy is a useless emotion”. Go Get it!
